Accepted /auto #2

    I noticed someone made a post about adding /auto to the server, but it got locked before I could make a reply. I think /auto changes the game mechanics way too much. Part of the challenge of building a farm is figuring out where the items are going to go and how you are going to collect them. Also if you remove the collection step, farming your farm will literally just be holding down the left mouse button and moving around, which seems kinda boring. I understand that you can turn it off, but if you do, everyone else will have a big advantage over you, so if you want to be on the same level as everyone else, you pretty much have to turn it on. Please don't add /auto.

    I'm not sure what you mean, building a farm will still be the same process as only items broken by a player would go straight into their inventory.

    At least when I'm building a farm, I make sure to leave enough room to fly over the crops to pick up the items, and I add blocks on the ends of the rows so I don't have to worry about flying past the edge of the farm. With /auto, all these fun little parts of the design process wouldn't be necessary. It's like making crops not need water or something like that. Also if I didn't have to collect the items on my farm, farming would just be holding left click and alternating between the a key and the d key, which seems pretty boring. I might as well just make a macro to do it at that point.

    tbh i think /auto would help cuz i lose items due to glitching or them getting in my holes of water and plus melons go everywhere, and im trying to get them efficiently so adding /auto would allow me to sprint and collect melons instead of waiting for them to stack up to collect them.

    First of all, I have never had an item "glitch", though they do despawn after about 2 minutes. As for getting stuck in holes, this is exactly what I mean by a design challenge. Without /auto, you have to actually think about where the items are going to go and how not to get them stuck in your water holes, whereas with /auto, as long as you have crops and water, it doesn't matter at all how you lay out your farm. Also don't you think sprinting and holding the left mouse button would get a little boring after a while with no collection step?

    To be honest, with my melon farm, I find it rather annoying and bothersome to have to collect the items because of the amount of time it takes before I can pick them up. There's no challenge in having to wait 5-10 seconds before the server will let you pick things up, it's just thumb-twiddling boredom and multiple runbacks because I haven't picked up the object even though I've ran over it three times. That aside, /auto will be toggle-able. If you don't like it, you don't have to use it.

    /auto might be good to be unlocked at maybe around Botanist++? It would be pretty helpful.
