I believe that it should be possible for nights to go by quicker. To do this I have an idea in mind (and yes I dislike the night). In many SMPs, let's plays, etc. all have a quick sleep plugin or mod. These plugins/mods allow for one user to go to bed and skip the night while any other users can keep doing tasks in the world, or you could have something like UsersSleeping/FourthOfUsersOnline.
Hello! Up until our recent update, players were able to change the time of day via in game money, though it was changed to allow turtles and bees to complete their tasks naturally.
The problem that I see with this is as Koro said, with certain mobs the cycling is important. However, an argument could instead be made here for permanent day? I personally am indifferent to the idea, what do you guys think?
The issue of mob cycling is still relevant with perm day, turtles need it to be midnight for eggs to hatch, and bees need it to be night so they can return to their nests naturally. As an ult you can use /ptime to change your own game time, or if you are using Badlion client you can set it to permanent day in the mod menu. I believe having the night/day cycle as it is currently is fine - hostile mobs don't spawn at night so the only disadvantage not being able to see well.
