So I'm just now finding this section of the forums and figured I'd spread my creations to other members in an attempt to help other players who want similar things at their farms! Most of these guides will involve redstone and automated farms. If that's not for you I apologize, that's just what I enjoy building. However I will have a few tutorials that won't involve redstone and some guides that might not even pertain to farming. With that being said, let's get into it. For my first guide I'll be showing some collection systems I've built to help the efficiency of my automated farms, keep in mind these are simple designs anybody can build to make your collection systems more advanced. And these designs are very open for anybody to adjust and recreate for themselves. Full Chest Indicators Using redstone lamps and comparators to indicate when a chest is full and ready to sell. First up is a compact design, that takes up little space and can fit underneath any farm, only being 5 blocks tall and 6 blocks wide. See example images below; https://imgur.com/5i97x1y https://imgur.com/6PD043R https://imgur.com/QLVcpyj https://imgur.com/9Q4Eebd Now to explain the redstone being used here; first is the chests and hoppers. Obviously to collect a crop you need storage, so building a wall of chests is essential. Here I used 4 PF Hoppers (hoppers that automatically pick up any crop entity summoned within the chunk that they are placed), that funnel down into 6 large chests on either side, equaling 12 large chests, or 648 stacks worth of storage, with the 4 chests on top as an overflow if you don't clear the chests on time. Next, we talk about the comparators. Here I have indicator lights on the bottom chest, and top chest, as a double indication. So if the bottom chest is lit up, I can just quick sell and move on. The top light I use as a warning, telling me that my collection is completely full, and will clog up soon. Comparators detect outgoing signals, or similar to observers; changes from blocks and put out a weak redstone signal. This means that when you place a comparator going out of a chest, once an item enters that chest, the comparator will put out a signal. You can adjust this to make it only detect a completely filled chest by powering the comparator with a signal. In this case use a redstone block, with a redstone dust going into it. This will turn the comparator off, until it senses that the chest is completely filled, and then it will put out a signal. Lastly, the light. You can place this light anywhere you'd like, as long as the signal coming out of the comparator gets to it and lights it up. In my case, to make it as compact as possible, I put the lamp directly on the comparator. See below for example images of the redstone functioning; https://imgur.com/DWO2xBU https://imgur.com/XXQXKPa https://imgur.com/NKfCFnv https://imgur.com/62b7f8k This concludes the guide, I hope this helps someone. Again, this is a very simple, basic design you can use on any type of collection or chest storage, and it completely open for altering or recreating for your own usage. Leave some feedback or suggestions on what your think, or if you'd like to see this built a different way or have a better way than myself for something similar to this.
I want to try and make these guides as easily comprehensible as possible to someone who doesn't know redstone very well, any recommendations?
Next I'm gonna be making a guide on how to put the lamp in different places, and make it look cool or incorporated into walls of a chest room, so you can use it in storage rather than just crop collection.
