Title says it all. I think everyone should have a chance to get a rank free of charge whether it be some 0.00001% in vote crate or even a 1% chance in time capsule crate. Also i think /fly should be winnable from the crates. if its only $4 it cant be held back from crates like ULT might. By ranks I mean ULT APR or HERO and also the idea that you can get a rankup from opening a crate would be a very unique idea which would encourage crate key purchases over a $50 rank and also because some people don't have the money or most of the players are under 18 so they most likely don't have a bank card or anything like that and them people should be able to win a rank at some point. for example: someone has been playing for 2-3 years and has always had the default rank because they're too young to make external purchases for items or ranks and its them people that this idea should target to give everyone the equal chance of becoming #1. on average based on calculations there are 6 players with ranks for every 25 players online (excluding player ladder rankup).
I like this idea. It would surely encourage voting, which would promote the server more. Just have to be careful how it would be applied. If it works like affixes do with nametags it could create a market for people selling donor ranks in-game, or worse could lead to attempts of item duplication, which would be an... Undesirable situation, if it were to be a success, to say the least.
The issue with this idea is that servers need donations to survive. If people can get it without donating, the server will take a hit in quality. People can pay other in game money to buy them ranks, so the reason of not being able to purchase themselves is able to be worked around.
I think a revamp of the voting system is definitely needed but was pushed back to I don't know when.. Maybe a very small chance for a currency inside the vote crate for a premium redeem from some shop? I don't know if this would work for a rank tho..
