    Automated Farms for Beginners
    Part 1: Cactus
    Let's start discussing more in the automation of farms. Yes, cactus is an easy one, but hey this is for beginners. And surprisingly enough, I have met a multitude of players who don't know how to build this. This is a very straight forward farm, and a very efficient one at that. And will quite possibly make one of the largest portions of your bank account. Without further delay, let's get into it.
    Like I said, this is a very straight forward build. Now, here on PeacefulFarms there's actually two different kinds you can build. One using water collection, and one using PF hoppers. Seeing as how the one using water collection is known by 90% of the community I won't be covering that one. Unless of course it's popularly requested. For this one we'll be covering the compact design using PF Hoppers.

    To start, you want to know what chunks you're building in. To see chunk borders; use the macro
    F3+G, you'll get a bunch of annoying colorful lines all over your screen. A chunk is a 16x16 square, that runs from bedrock to build height. Great, now that we know our chunks, let's figure out how big we want this farm to be. Do you want it to take up only one chunk? Maybe a 2x2 area? Maybe even a 9x9 area. You can even do a 1x15 area if you really wanted to. Keep in mind we're talking about chunks here. For now let's do a 3x3 chunk area. We now know how big we want it to be, let's think about how tall we want it to be. For this let's keep in mind that you have to build this. Obviously you can delegate work if you have enough money to pay people to do it for you, but that won't be happening for a while. So let's just do 20 layers, that's modest enough.

    Okay so, we're building a 3x3 area (9 chunks in total surface area), and it's going to be 20 layers high. Now we need to build the collection. This cuts the guide in half, because I've already made a series of guides for advanced collection systems. You can see that below;

    Now let's get to building the actual farm. You only need three items for this, and this farm does not use any redstone. We'll need sand, string, and of course; cactus.

    You start by placing sand in a checkerboard-pattern within the chunk, skipping every other block. Then you'll place cactus on the sand. Now we take our string, and we right click on the side of the cactus, you place the string in between each cactus. Now after that, all you do is put sand on top of the string, and you rinse and repeat.

    Super easy right?! Let's check out some example pictures of my current cactus farm.
